s you’ve come to expect, I’m a big proponent of wellness through nutrition. But. That’s not the only way to wellness. Sometimes you need to hit a few more senses on that journey to self-care.
Skintopia is home to the most wonderful estheticians that Rochester has to offer. The owner, Christina, prides herself in offering unmatched client experience and an overall focus on customer wellness.
I recently discovered Skintopia’s newest addition, aptly named the Foot Sanctuary, which offers a 45 minute escape from reality, as you lean back in a zero gravity chair and experience the warming fragrance of essential oils, foot scrubs and leg mask – oh, and on top of all of that, a scalp massage, while you marinate in a finely crafted elixir of tootsie bliss. Hello relaxation! Something I so desperately need after long hours in the kitchen.
Speaking of the kitchen, when I finally do immerse myself in the wild and have to be seen by more than a few pots and pans, I need to look my best. Skintopia keeps me polished with the new skincare line ‘Image’ which was actually created by a plastic surgeon and his esthetician wife. This spa exclusive is worth it’s weight in gold and provides a flawless canvas for the NEXT new, amazing thing at Skintopia. A MAKEUP BAR! It’s seriously as if all of my 8 year old fantasies came true. Except, I’m adult now and can enjoy the COMPLIMENTARY glass of CHAMPAGNE that comes along with my glam time! Yes please!
A little birdie told me that this Black Friday and Small Business Saturday will be hosting some A+ deals and steals on makeup applications and gift certificates, so definitely keep that in mind… I’m talking to all of you reading this because I’m expecting gifts from each and every one of you this year, and my list only reads Skintopia. Now, back to those desserts. Holidays make me think of fluffy, chocolaty things, so I decided the perfect fit for this holiday party would be delectable little gluten free smores cupcakes! A rich, chocolate cupcake, topped with a freshly made marshmallow icing, torched to toasty perfection and finished with a milk chocolate drizzle and sprinkle of gluten free graham crackers. These little mini cuppies packed a seriously sweet punch.
As always, the base of all of my gluten free wonders is the Holy Grail AP flour blend. This recipe is beyond easy, you literally just throw it all in one bowl and you’re ready to roll. Hot water is essential, though, so be sure not to skip that part.
Making marshmallow icing MIGHT be my favorite thing ever. Basically, because I know that the second it’s finished, I get to light it on fire. That’s something I daydream about doing too many things, so having an actual instance where it’s necessary? Yeah. I’m all in. If you don’t have a kitchen torch, a lighter works, too! I got pretty crafty when I had my bakery, and learned this the hard way when I made this exact recipe but realized I had yet to invest in a torch. Whoopsie! Just use a little extra caution when toasting, because a lighter tends to… well… light. And you don’t really want flaming cupcakes. YOU don’t… I probably do.
If you’re not keeping super strict on dairy free, then any old milk chocolate will do. But if you’re catering to allergies, the Enjoy Life brand has an awesome dairy free milk chocolate chip that melts beautifully and will be your perfect drizzle for your topping. You can find those chocolate chips here through our Thrive link!
Ok, now that you’ve got the rundown on the best gluten free smores cupcakes EVER, and the rundown on the best spa EVER, get over to the Skintopia website and book me a massage, why don’t ya?
